Granola Squares

£4.50

I’ve been playing around with recipes for a while now to create a ‘low-sugar but highly tasty and nutritious’ little granola bar perfect for a grab and run breakfast, to pop in a child’s lunchbox or for a post-workout snack…

Many of the granola bars on the supermarket shelves are advertised as healthy, but still contain an unexpected amount of sugar or additives and emulsifiers. Baking these from scratch with natural ingredients ensures there are no hidden nasties and they really are a nutritious option to boost energy and brain power whatever time of day it is!

I’ve created two varieties: ‘Cranberry & Orange’ (nut free and rich in antioxidant berries) or ‘Lemon and Pistachio’ (not suitable for school snacks or those with an allergy, yet with a zesty tang and benefits of B vitamins and healthy fats). Both contain no refined sugars but are sweetened only with a little natural honey and nutrient rich mejdool dates. Not only that but they are crammed full of omega-3 rich seeds and my favourite protein powerhouse combination of puffed quinoa and chia seeds.

My daughter told me they tasted just like a very well known brand - that wasn’t quite as healthy as I thought it was - so that’s a real compliment!

Orange and Cranberry Granola Square Ingredients: mejdool dates, natural honey, porridge oats, puffed quinoa, omega seed mix (sunflower seeds, golden linseed, brown linseed, and pumpkin seeds), chia seeds, cranberries, sultanas, extra virgin olive oil, zest and juice of an orange

Lemon and Pistachio Granola Square Ingredients: mejdool dates, natural honey, porridge oats, puffed quinoa, omega seed mix (sunflower seeds, golden linseed, brown linseed and pumpkin seeds), chia seeds, shelled pistachios, extra virgin olive oil, zest and juice of a lemon - contains nuts, not suitable for those with an allergy.

Each order contains four granola squares and both recipes are suitable for vegetarians and vegans. All products are made in a kitchen which uses nuts and other allergens - plse note that the rolled oats used as standard are not certified as gluten free and cross contamination can occur in factories where these are produced. As a result, this product may not be suitable for those with a severe gluten intolerance or Coeliac disease. A gluten-free option is available on request but I can not guarantee there are not traces of gluten in the product due to the nature of my kitchen.
